20 April - We welcome “the twins”, Daniel & James Edmundson and Christopher Smith who join us from the YP Band. Chris and Dan take their place in the Cornet section whilst James joins the Horn Section. We welcome them into the unique fellowship of the Band. (see the picture in the Gallery)
We’re thrilled at the fact that so many young folk are coming through from the YP Band and we pay tribute to the work of YP Band leader Joe Beattie who does a fantastic job with the YP Band.... and there are still more to come.
18 April - We are sorry to announce the Promotion to Glory of Band Reservist Harry Wharton. We uphold Harry’s family and friends in our prayers at this time.

Bandmaster Nick Hall is only the 13th Bandmaster of Monkwearmouth Band and, since “taking the reins” in November 2004, his sound musical background has allowed the Band to further develop. Originating from South Shields Citadel Nick, wife Gwen and children Rebecca and Nathan have made Monkwearmouth their “home” and enjoy the fellowship of the Corps. He works for the Salvation Army at a Community project in Sunderland.
Nick comments: “On behalf of the Band Local Officers and the Band members, I’m delighted to welcome you to our redesigned Band web site. The Band’s primary aim has remained unchanged since it’s formation in 1884 - that is to proclaim the Gospel of the Lord, Jesus Christ through music and to bring those who listen to it into a greater awareness of the difference that can be made in their lives by knowing and following Jesus.”
“To serve the present age,
My calling to fulfil,
O may it all my powers engage,
To do my Master’s will.”
“The Salvation Army” is a Church and a registered charity - “With heart to God and hand to man”
